Boston Mobster James "Whitey" Bulger Sentenced

Boston Mobster James

(Boston, MA)  --  Convicted Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger has been sentenced to two consecutive life in prison terms plus five years.  He was convicted in August for several murders, as well as extortion, money-laundering and weapons charges.  U.S. District Court Judge Denise Casper also ordered $19.5 million in restitution to the families of his victims.  The judge told Bulger the "scope, the callousness, the depravity of your crimes is almost unfathomable."

The 84-year-old Bulger was captured in Santa Monica, California in 2011, after 16-years in hiding.  The federal Bureau of Prisons will determine where Bulger will be sent to serve out his sentence.  He has been held at the Plymouth House of Correction.
